Mosaic bull

In 2020 I bought a number of very small canvas boards and I had the intention to create some small paintings.  I did paint some of the boards, but I wasn't too impressed and I discovered that it is not really my thing to work on small canvases as I work quite rough and intuitively and I like to use a spatula.

I decided to put all the canvases together and paint a bull, I am going through a face where I find it pleasant to paint bulls. Perhaps this is subconsciously as it is the year of the Ox. I live in southern Spain in a small seaside village called La Herradura and the bull is a symbol of Spain, but I do like to depict my bulls colourful, strong and friendly.

I then glued the individual canvas boards onto a wooden background. The photo doesn’t really do it much justice sadly, and it really looks better in real life.

The wooden board is is painted in a dark purple. Two of the smaller canvas boards are sticking out slightly, this is not a mistake, I did that on purpose to make it less static.
