Painting Classes for Adults in La Herradura
During the entire year, art classes for adults take place in my studio on Monday mornings. I also offer private classes and small group workshops, with or without a drink and tapas. These sessions are designed for both beginners and more experienced painters who want to reconnect with their creativity in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Rather than following rigid instruction, you are gently guided as you work on your own chosen subject. Along the way, you will explore different styles, working with acrylics, while developing confidence and a deeper understanding of your personal artistic style.
Many people arrive thinking they are “not good enough” to paint. What they discover instead is that creativity was never missing, only waiting.

Paint and Sip Workshops: Art, Tapas & Connection
For a more social and light-hearted experience, the paint and sip workshops in La Herradura offer something truly special. Imagine creating your own artwork while enjoying a glass of wine or a drink, accompanied by tapas, in a warm and welcoming studio.
These sessions are perfect for friends, family gatherings, or celebrations... for example hen parties. These are private events, either in my studio or at your home. No previous experience is needed, just a willingness to enjoy the moment and try something new.

Expressive Writing Workshops
Creativity does not only live on canvas. it also lives in words. My expressive writing workshops are designed to help you unlock your imagination and discover the joy of storytelling.
In a relaxed and often playful atmosphere, you will be guided through simple yet powerful exercises that make writing feel accessible and natural. Whether you dream of writing a book or simply want to explore your thoughts and ideas, these sessions help you build confidence and find your voice.
Options:

Intention Mandala Workshops: Creativity as Meditation
There is something deeply calming about creating a mandala. In these intention mandala workshops, art becomes a meditative process, one that allows you to slow down, focus, and connect with what truly matters to you.
You will design and create your own mandala, infused with a personal intention. The result is not only a beautiful piece of art, but also a meaningful reminder you can return to again and again.
These workshops can take place in the studio in La Herradura or online, making them a wonderful way to connect creatively with friends or family, wherever they are in the world.

Online Art Classes for women
For those who prefer to create from home, my online art classes (for women) offer the same guidance and inspiration in a flexible format. These sessions are especially loved by women who want to carve out creative time for themselves but struggle to commit to it alone.
Working from your own space, you become part of a supportive and welcoming group where ideas, encouragement, and creativity are shared freely. The first session is an invitation to simply try, to see what happens when you give yourself permission to create.

Studio Visits & Art Talks
If you feel more drawn to experiencing art than creating it, you are warmly invited to visit the studio. Here, you can gain insight into the life of an artist, the sources of inspiration behind the work, and the role art can play in transforming a space.
Talks and workshops on art, creativity, and even specific art history topics can also be arranged for groups, either in the studio or at your own location.

Meet the Artist – Renate van Nijen
With more than 35 years of experience as a professional artist and author, Renate van Nijen brings a depth of knowledge and an intuitive approach to creativity. Her work, ranging from oil and acrylic paintings to mandalas and books, centres around art as emotion and expression.
Since 2006, she has been guiding others through painting classes and creative workshops, both in Spain and online. Her approach is gentle but empowering, encouraging each person to explore creativity in their own way.
