A Personal Artist Studio Experience
I invite you into my home and studio in the centre of La Herradura for a warm, inspiring, and personal visit. This is not a typical tour—it’s an intimate creative experience where art, storytelling, and connection come together.
During your visit, I will take you on a storytelling journey through my art and books, sharing insights into my creative process and the stories behind my work.

Meet the Artist: Renate van Nijen
My name is Renate van Nijen, a Dutch professional artist with over 35 years of experience, and a published writer of 10 books.
My latest book, The HeArt of Paris, is a unique journey honouring women who have shaped the evolution of art. This project inspired me to create a series of paintings influenced by movements such as Art Nouveau and Japonisme as well as portraits of remarkable women featured in the book.
Throughout my career, I have:
- Exhibited internationally in countries including The Netherlands, Italy, and Spain
- Participated in exhibitions in cities such as Paris and Rome
- Shown my work in galleries, art events, hotels, businesses, and even hospitals
I have lived in La Herradura since 2010, and in 2014 I married a Spanish avocado farmer. Our home and my studio are located right in the heart of the village.

If the weather is nice (which it usually is in La Herradura), you can also enjoy time on the beautiful patio, surrounded by many exquisite plants. Here, you may be joined by the charming feline guardians of the patio, Federico and Daisy, who add their own unique presence to the creative atmosphere.

Small Groups for a Personal Touch
To keep the experience intimate and meaningful, visits are limited to small groups of 2 to 10 people.
