Be creative and express yourself with words
This is a super fun workshop where you will spend a few hours writing. No need to be fluent in English, No need to be an experienced writer. Just come and find out whether you have it in you to write short stories.

How does it work?
* You create your group - contact me to find a suitable day and time.
* Writing material will be provided
* You will get intriguing prompts to get those imaginative juices flowing.
* Drinks and a few tapas will be provided
* You will receive several writing assignments for short stories which you will do during the workshop. To inspire you I will give you interesting prompts. After this we read out our short stories to each other.

I believe we are all storytellers, but sometimes we can do with a bit of inspiration and guidance.

Why women only?
These writing workshops/classes are not about learning how to write proper English, the focus isn't on grammar. This is not an English class. If you have a decent knowledge - not necessarily perfect- of the English language then you can totally join in.
This writing class is about getting together with like-minded people who like to get creative and play with words. Writing on a regular basis, even if it's just for fun, will still improve your writing skills and we can encourage each other to perhaps even find our own unique style.

Communicating online is important, but being authentic even more so
You could argue that we are living in an ‘online’ world and being able to communicate in writing is a real bonus. Although the focus in this class is on being creative and expressive with words and not about writing a perfect slogan or text, I believe that practising writng will certainly help you with that too. You might even be able to find your authentic voice.
Being creative and expressive with words is first of all about having fun in developing your writing skills and it will also help you find your inner wisdom, your intuition. Although expressive writing is often seen as a form of therapy, this is absolutely not the objective of this class. What is great about expressive writing is that it means you can, if you like to, ignore writing style rules and just enjoy and find the fun in expressing something guided by prompts and suggestions.
Online.... how does it work?
This expressive writing class is on a 4- weekly basis:

* You will receive my ebook with tips on writing
We will get together 1 day a week for 2 hours at a time, and you will get a weekly short story assignment to do at home. This is extremely useful to practise creative writing.
During the class we will share our stories and then do fun exercises with words. There will be tips and suggestions and guidelines to bring some structure into the stories. You will improve self-expression in words.
Participants will also receive an invite to a private Facebook group which is especially created for this class. Here you can, if you like, share your stories and positive feedback is certainly encouraged! :-).
Who am I?
My name is Renate van Nijen and I'm a published writer of 10 books (so far), one of which is about La Herradura (Reflections from La Herradura). I’m also an artist and an art teacher (see information about my art, books and art classes in the menu bar).
I have written all my books in the English language (of course they were all proofread by professional proof-readers) but some have been translated into Dutch, Spanish and even German.
I absolutely love storytelling and I love to help others to develop this skill in a playful manner.
What do you need?
You bring your own writing material, for example pens and notebooks, and it is important to have access to a laptop or computer to do the home assignments.
